Think of Me is billed as a lullaby and it is very easy to imagine this delicately arranged song being used to quiet the carpetcrawlers. It’s sparse and ethereal instrumentation, slowly builds as the song progresses, gliding towards a satisfyingly, atmospheric climax. The gel is Jo Hamilton’s voice, which is special, and this is a sublime performance of grace and subtlety.Ke$has success certainly sees no end on the back of tracks like this. Taken from her Animal album, Your Love is My Drug is going to follow on from Tik Tok and Blah Blah Blah to make it another huge hit. With a summer vibe and mightily catchy chorus which does remind me of P!nk in places this has hit written all over it.All sorts of cliches come to mind with this album – A Curates Egg’ is probably the most appropriate, Good In Parts.

The increase in tempo didn’t hurt when World War II Pt. 2’ gave everyone something to move to, as Carney leans on the reverb to comfortably fill any gaps that would have otherwise required a third guitarist. Armed with a better understanding of the format at work, the audience gave the best reception of the evening to the final track The Doctor Will See You Now’ and the band departed the stage to healthy applause.I’ve heard Wax Fang do a mean cover of Prince’s Purple Rain’ and this would have been an easy way to draw more attention, but they were there to promote their latest album, La La Land, and to that end they were fairly successful. It was obvious that many watching had never heard of Wax Fang before and were challenged by the avant-garde aspects, but I was not surprised to see a few people won over towards the sets conclusion.It would, however, seem that Wax Fang fell victim to a badly scheduled evening, where their intricate performance fell on unprepared ears. They were not as animated as I’d expected, which probably stemmed from having an audience that were new to their work and the outcome was slightly clinical. Hopefully, Wax Fang will be able to shrug this mediocre reception off as one of many trials on their way to greater success.Joe Bonamassa was playing to the biggest audience he has ever faced in the UK and totally blew them away with a combination of showbiz style and great guitar playing.

For me the best number of the whole evening was Kasbah, a really jazzy and funky workout that really brought home how good the band is together.The second set beginning with just Kyla Brox and Danny Blomeley – this time playing acoustic guitar – created a very intimate atmosphere but it was when she brought out the whole band that she brought the audience right back into the music and in the end the hoots and hollers for an encore were very well deserved.Kyla is absolutely not just the daughter of a great British Bluesman, she has her own abilities and she has developed them over a good few years She isn’t a regular in the South but I would be more than willing to travel to see her again top class and a fitting end to a fine Blues club.

It?s certainly an interesting start repeat playings offer a better idea of the direction in which Fiction are heading, certainly leaning towards danceable indie carved from the same bark as other London acts such as Hard-Fi. The lack of pretention is to be applauded though it doesn?t feel like a message being rammed down your throat, or a band who know they are great without the chops to back it up. Instead, the music speaks for itself, being nothing more than a simple but well crafted slice of pop music and playing it safe whilst entertaining.B-side Zebra Crossing offers a little more insight more ambitious playing reinforces the ska stylings that so obviously influence the band, whilst adding more of a dark dance groove obviously a more freeform style more akin to the band in their natural state and yet actually coming off as the better track. It will certainly be interesting to see where they go next.Curiosity is an acceptable debut that won?t set the world on fire, but certainly should draw some attention to the lads before the next release I certainly want to hear what?s next, and hope that they build on the stylings of Zebra Crossing instead of the play-it-safe sound of Curiosity - we could then be looking at a band with the potential to start hunting for the tag of Next Big Thing.

La Roux and Sub Focus have remixed Self Machine’, offering up their own takes on the track alongside Jakwob, Pangea and Chew Fu.Robyns new digital single, Dancing On My Own, is available on iTunes this week. Recently named Best New Track by Pitchfork, its the lead single from her forthcoming album, Body Talk PT 1, which is scheduled for release on June 15th on Cherrytree Records. Robyn recently premiered the Max Vitali-directed video for the track which can be seen on VEVO.com.It was just announced that Robyn will perform on the Late Show with David Letterman on July 19th, and shell be kicking off a North American tour on July 16th with a performance at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago Beginning July 23rd, Robyn will team up with Kelis for a string of co-headlining dates, and they plan to bring UK sensation Dan Black and Robyns Cherrytree Records label-mates, Far East Movement, along for the ride.
